A design from Art Nouveau around 1900
A young woman in a flowing gown raises both arms and lays her hands in her hair, where wreaths of blossom are braided. The design comes from the Art Nouveau of around 1900, a time when sculptors took the fabric more seriously than the pose: the gown falls in long, soft courses down to the bare feet.

Solid bronze on black marble
The figure is cast in solid bronze and chased by hand, the warm golden brown patina worked to a high shine. It stands on a turned base of black marble with light veining that brings the sculpture to a stately overall height of 163 cm.
